Contactors
EVC 250 CONTACTOR
The EVC 250 contactor features larger contact gaps and optimized switching dynamics.
It features high-performance arc suppressing magnets to effectively control the switching arc. The contactor achieves continuous current ratings of 250A, which ensures a safe short-circuit carry capability of 6,000A and complies with switching requirements in hybrid and electric vehicles. Service replacement due to pressure loss or gas leaking is no longer necessary.
Applications
RequirementsThe requirements for the main contactor under normal operation conditions are summarized here:
The requirements for failure cases are:

Applications
- Hybrid vehicles
- Full battery electric vehicles, fuel-cell cars and
- DC battery charging systems
RequirementsThe requirements for the main contactor under normal operation conditions are summarized here:
- Connect and disconnect the battery
- Carry several 100 A with low power dissipation
- Ensure full galvanic isolation, when the vehicle is turned off
The requirements for failure cases are:
- The contactor must be able to switch off overcurrents of up to 2,000 A
- The contactor must still be capable of separating the circuit after an overload
- The contacts must remain closed in case of overload (especially at short circuits), as long as the contactor is activated
EVC 500 CONTACTORS
Fast, hermetically sealed switches.
TE's EVC 500 main contactors provide fast and reliable switching of the high voltage battery to the vehicle system in hybrid and electric vehicles. The compact contactors offer 900VDC and 500 Amps continuous current carrying capabilities. The contactors are capable of 2000 Amp interrupt at 320 VDC. Evolved from fighter jet technology, the high voltage contactors provide current switching capabilities in harsh environments with no oxidation or contamination of contacts during long periods of non-operation. The EVC 500 contactor is designed with an optional built micro-controller or timer-based coil economizer.
